Contest: The Good Dinosaur - Down in front

Description:

   For this I wanted to really show the theater aspect! I always liked those down infront people shadow comedy skits yu used to see in older movies, where someone's walking in front of the movie and everyone throws popcorn or yells at them, so I decided to do that here in this cast preview of the movie.

   The scene is set in a 3D movie theater, pretty much one of those previews that cast only get to see soon as the movie is finished, I decided to focus on the main cast of 6 (Arlo, Spot, Butch, Ramsey, Nash, and Pet Collector). I picked a scene of the trailer I really liked, played with it a bit and gave it a kind of water color theme to represent how a 3D scene would look to us without glasses!

I know the size proportions are a bit off for dinosaurs, but I wanted it to be whimsical and funny, I think I hit that pretty well.

   It's a billboard fan art contest, so I wanted it to look like a real billboard, I redid the D.P The Good Dinosaur etc. logo myself (It's hard to see, but I gave the whole logo a kind of dinosaur scale texture). Since this contest will be concluded a few days before the release of the movie, I decided to say that the movie is in theaters NOW! It gives the scene more value, because their watching the movie right now lol! I kept the green color that deviantart had on their version for the contest, it really added more color than just plain white to the image. I underline the "In theatres in 3D" part with the same line that's under "The" just scaled it down to the correct size and extended it, I made "Now" the same size as the underlined words to have the same effect as the title!

I wanted it to be fun and an adventure in it's self, one of those kind of things yu always see something new in every time you look at it!

If this was a real billboard kids and families would look up at it every day as they drive by trying to see what they didn't notice before, be it:

~Arlo trying to calm Spot down from his first up close 3D experience, flinging his 3D glasses and popcorn all over the place,
~Butch telling Nash to leave because he's one of those annoying movie talkers (Yu know the kind that have to narrate every cool scene that happens...),
~Ramsey minding her own business, trying to throw popcorn up and catch it in her mouth,
and
~Pet Collector pretty much being his own movie theater for his little friends.

The adventure aspect of this piece is them watching their self's live out the experiences they had on the big screen for the first time, and hoping everyone loves the outcome lol!
